This week I have purchased four different weight loss/food choice books, in the search for the perfect eating plan that suits my lifestyle. I have ruled out joining a weight loss club as my spare time is quite limited and frankly I just can't stand the thought. I also know that pre-made meals like Lite N Easy just aren't for me......if I was living alone or there were just two of us, then this certainly may be the solution, but as I have a large family and I do all the cooking, I would rather be eating the same food that I prepare for everyone.
I also realise that I need to be making my own food choices, healthy choices and the right portion size, and as we eat out frequently I have to go back to basics and get a grip on what I eat and how much, no matter where I am for that meal. I realise that I am responsible for what and how much I eat, and this is the key to success in this journey.
Over the past week I have read The Dukan Diet by Dr. Pierre Dukan. I know that this diet works for me as I shed 3 kgs last year before a special occasion and I dropped the weight really quickly, in less than a week.I found it quite a chore really as I am not a big meat eater, and I found that to continue on with this diet would have been too draining for me......there is only a certain amount of meat I can take! That said, it really is a great way of losing weight and moving it fast, I just don't think that I can do this for the longer term.
The second book is Sweet Poison, Why Sugar Makes Us Fat, by David Gillespie. Although this book is new to me, I have a friend that started with this diet back in February and has since lost around 10kgs. Again I can see the benefits and no doubt if I could stick to this way of eating, I am sure I would succeed with the weight loss that I desire and also my overall health would improve. I just don't know that I want to give up on sugar altogether. I'm hoping to find the perfect balance between weight loss, a healthier lifestyle and not feeling deprived. I know that as I am not up for deprivation that cutting out sugar would end in my downfall and me falling back into my old eating habits. So for the rest of this week, I'll continue to read on and hopefully come to a decision on what will work best to get the results that I am looking for and what will inspire me, yet that I feel I can stick to for the longer term........
Hi and welcome to the wonderful world of blogging. =) The books sound very interesting and you sound very level-headed, so I'm sure you are on your way to success. Best of luck! XO ~Liz
